Made by Wedgwood for the centennial of Morgan’s department store in Montreal, this pale blue and creamy ironstone bowl is as collectible as it is beautiful. It features finely detailed transferware scenes around the body, framed by autumnal maple leaves and two raised-relief crests bearing the figures of John Bull and Jean Baptiste, all tied together with Wedgwood’s signature craftsmanship. A quiet note of history is inscribed on the base, marking Montreal’s population growth from 45,000 to 1.5 million between 1845 and 1945.
