The charming oak Biscuit Barrel was a standard household item in England in the late 19th and early 20th century.  The metal is stamped “EPNS”, or Electro Plated Nickel Silver, a metal alloy that is then silver plated. And to cap it all off, it has its original traditional porcelain liner and sweet handle.
